Level-5 CEO Personally Writes the Story for the Next Inazuma Eleven Game

Inazuma Eleven Victory Road has officially launched and is already proving that the long wait was worthwhile. After years of anticipation that began during the COVID period, the game has achieved sales approaching one million copies within just a few weeks of release. During a special event celebrating this success, Level-5 also revealed new developments for the franchise, including the mobile title Inazuma Eleven Cross and confirmation that a brand-new mainline entry is now in development.

What makes this announcement especially noteworthy is the involvement of Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level-5. He confirmed that the upcoming Inazuma Eleven game will serve as a direct sequel to Victory Road and that he will personally handle the scenario writing. It is a rare sight to see a company executive step into the role of lead writer, and Hino has hinted that fans should expect major surprises. According to him, this title will be a particularly important release for the studio, as it will be the first Inazuma Eleven game developed entirely in the Reiwa era.

Inazuma Eleven Victory Road was originally announced back in 2016 and was initially planned to launch alongside the Ares anime series. However, development delays pushed the release back several times until it finally became available recently. The main story mode takes place 25 years after the original Inazuma Eleven, focusing on Sasanami, a young boy who cannot play football himself but deeply loves the sport. He chooses to pursue a path as a strategist, building and managing a team in his quest to create the strongest football squad in the world.

Looking ahead, the upcoming sequel will feature special functions that connect with Inazuma Eleven Cross. Players will be able to transfer certain data from previous titles into the new game, although specific details on what can be carried over have yet to be revealed. Level-5 has also reassured fans that Victory Road will continue to receive support, with future plans including DLC content, a collaboration with Professor Layton, and additional free updates scheduled to arrive by the end of January.
