Google has launched Disco, an experimental AI tool designed to enhance web browsing by converting open tabs into dedicated interactive apps. The key feature, GenTabs, leverages AI to process data from active tabs and previous Gemini conversations, enabling users to create context-aware mini-apps for various tasks.
For instance, GenTabs can simplify academic research, generate meal plans from online recipes, or plan trips by analyzing multiple open tabs simultaneously. Once a prototype app is generated, users can customize its functions and interface using natural language. GenTabs also provides reference links to source information, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
Disco is part of Google’s effort to integrate Gemini AI directly into Chrome, avoiding the need for a separate browser like Comet or Atlas. This approach allows for seamless interactions with multiple sources of web data, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
