Monster Hunter Wilds Faces Sales Challenges Due to High PS5 Price in Southeast Asia

In an interview with Nikkei Gaming, Tsujimoto highlighted that the combined expense of the PS5 console, necessary accessories, and a PlayStation Plus subscription amounts to approximately ¥100,000 (around ₱22,000). When added to the game’s price tag of $70 (approximately ₱3,900), the total investment becomes a significant financial burden for many players, especially younger audiences without a steady income.
Shift Towards More Affordable Alternatives
The steep cost of entry has led some players to opt for older titles in the Monster Hunter series, such as Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, which are available at much lower prices. Since June, the company has implemented a 20% discount on the game and released Free Title Update 2, introducing new content to enhance the gaming experience. Additionally, Capcom plans to continue utilizing price reductions as a primary tool to stimulate sales throughout the year.
