Ragnarok Online Cosplay Incident Sparks Debate After Orc Lady Streamer Assaulted at RO Festa

A shocking incident at a recent Ragnarok Online event has sparked widespread discussion across the gaming community after a well-known streamer was physically assaulted while attending RO Festa in cosplay. The streamer, known as Dachar Channel or “Decha”, appeared at the event in an Orc Lady cosplay as part of a sponsored appearance connected to Ragnarok Online Landverse, but what should have been a lighthearted fan interaction quickly escalated into real world violence.
Ragnarok Online and the clash at RO Festa
According to reports shared by the streamer, the situation began while he was resting in a staff only area when an unidentified man approached and criticized his in game behavior, specifically accusing him of frequently using Dead Branch items on private servers. At first, the comments were brushed off as playful teasing, something common for public figures in gaming spaces. However, the tone soon shifted as the individual began making aggressive verbal threats, prompting the streamer to leave the area out of concern for personal safety.
For players unfamiliar with the term, Dead Branch is a classic item in Ragnarok Online that can summon a random monster when used. This includes regular enemies, special monsters, and even MVP bosses. Because of this, Dead Branch is often used during MVP boss hunts or chaotic player driven events, but it can also disrupt maps and other players if used irresponsibly. Its long-standing presence in the game has made it both a popular and controversial item within the community.
Despite the earlier confrontation, the streamer later returned to his duties, taking photos with attendees and continuing scheduled activities. Roughly fifteen minutes later, the same individual allegedly returned, tapped him from behind, and suddenly punched him in the mouth, causing visible injury. Additional punches followed before nearby attendees intervened and restrained the attacker. Event staff quickly called security and game masters to de escalate the situation.
Even after sustaining injuries, the streamer chose to remain professional and completed fan interactions before both parties later reported to Thonglor Police Station. Legal action was initiated, with damages requested to cover medical expenses and lost time. The streamer has stated clearly that he intends to pursue the case fully, emphasizing that physical violence cannot be justified under any circumstances, regardless of disagreements within a game.
A police officer involved in the case reportedly stressed that in game behavior, even if considered disruptive by others, does not justify harassment or assault. Players have the right to enjoy games within the rules of the platform, and disputes must be handled through proper systems or legal channels, not through intimidation or violence.
The incident has since reignited conversations within the Thai as well as Southeast Asia gaming community about toxic behavior, parasocial grudges, and the dangerous line between online conflict and real-world harm. While competitive emotions and rivalries are common in online games, this case highlights the urgent need for better boundaries, accountability, and respect both on screen and off.
At This Is Game SEA, we strongly condemn any kind and form of violence. Disagreements in games should never escalate into real world harm, and no frustration or personal grudge ever justifies physical assault. Gaming communities must be built on passion, safety, and respect, not fear or aggression.
