Mythic Yi: A Pixel RPG Inspired by the Legendary Archer Hou Yi
Mythic Yi is an upcoming turn-based RPG featuring HD-2D pixel graphics, inspired by the famous Chinese legend of Hou Yi, the hero who shot down nine of the ten suns to save the world. Players will step into a reimagined version of this tale, combining classical mythology with modern RPG gameplay mechanics.
Fans of Octopath Traveler will feel a sense of familiarity in Mythic Yi, from its art style to its turn-based combat system. However, the true highlight is the story adaptation: in the original myth, the world once had ten suns, causing endless daylight and extreme heat that devastated crops and starved people. The Jade Emperor tasked the young divine archer Hou Yi to solve the crisis, and he succeeded, becoming a legendary hero.
In Mythic Yi, the narrative expands beyond the sun-shooting tale. Hou Yi embarks on a journey with companions to defeat six powerful demons threatening the world. Players will also encounter a tragic love story and unravel conspiracies among the gods, with multiple possible endings shaped by player choices, making each playthrough unique.
Currently, Mythic Yi is scheduled for release in 2026 on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. Players can expect a story-driven RPG experience with deep strategic combat and freedom to influence the unfolding legend.
