Walled Haven: A Low-Poly Kung Fu Odyssey in a Dystopian Megacity
Independent developer Oni Craft has officially unveiled Walled Haven, a unique open world action adventure that blends martial arts mastery with a distinct PlayStation 1 aesthetic. Set in a sprawling, walled off dystopian city, the game challenges players to rise through the ranks of fighters in a world where Kung Fu is not just a skill—it is a means of survival.
Explore the Walled Kingdom
Walled Haven transports players to a massive metropolis divided into diverse districts, each with its own atmosphere and challenges. From neon lit entertainment districts to gritty, dangerous back alleys controlled by local gangs, the city feels like a living, breathing entity.
- Dynamic Combat: Engage in fast paced martial arts battles using fists, kicks, and various weapons.
- Master the Arts: Learn new techniques and fighting styles to customize your combat approach.
- Retro Visuals: The game features a “Low-Poly” art style that captures the nostalgic feel of 32-bit era classics.
More Than Just Fighting
While combat is at the heart of the experience, Walled Haven offers a deep “Life Simulation” aspect that gives players freedom beyond the arena.
- Social Connections: Interact with fully voiced NPCs (available in Traditional Chinese for added immersion), build relationships, and even go on dates.
- Work and Play: Earn money through various mini games and part-time jobs to afford better gear and clothing.
- Character Customization: Equip different outfits and weapons to improve your stats and change your appearance.
The game is currently in development for PC via Steam. While a release date has yet to be announced, fans of retro aesthetics and martial arts can add the game to their Wishlist now to support the developer and stay updated on its progress.
Walled Haven looks like the love child of Shenmue and Sifu if they were born on a PS1 demo disc. There is something incredibly charming about using such a nostalgic, blocky art style to portray a gritty, high-stakes martial arts world. By mixing hardcore Kung Fu combat with casual life-sim elements like dating and part-time jobs, Oni Craft is creating a “digital playground” that feels both grounded and wonderfully weird. If you miss the days when games weren’t afraid to look “pointy” while delivering a deep story, this is definitely one to watch.
