CD Projekt RED Confirms The Witcher 4, 5 and 6 Will Launch Within Six Years

Co CEO Says Future Sequels Will Develop Faster With Unreal Engine 5‘
CD Projekt RED has once again confirmed that the upcoming new trilogy of The Witcher, consisting of Parts 4, 5 and 6, is expected to launch in full within the next six years. While the first game of the trilogy is not ready for a near term release, the studio’s top leadership emphasized that future entries should progress more quickly as the team becomes more experienced with Unreal Engine 5, the core technology powering the project.
During a recent CD Projekt Group meeting, Co CEO Michał Nowakowski shared an update on The Witcher 4 and the long term plan to deliver all three games within the set timeline. He explained that The Witcher 4, which entered full development last year, is advancing well. Although the title will not be ready to reveal next year, its earliest possible release window is 2027. He noted that this game serves as the foundation of the new trilogy, and the studio still intends to complete all entries within six years. More than four hundred fifty developers are currently working on the open world title, and the team has been testing engine capabilities using a tech demo presented at the recent Unreal Fest.
Nowakowski added that the development team has used Unreal Engine 5 for nearly four years and is highly satisfied with its performance. He mentioned that Epic Games continues to refine the engine in ways that benefit a large scale open world project like The Witcher 4. When asked about the production timeline of Parts 5 and 6, he stated that both are expected to require less time and should follow a more predictable schedule, supporting the commitment to deliver the entire trilogy within the planned period.
Although story details remain limited, early hints suggest that Ciri may take the lead role and the game could incorporate elements from Crossroads of Ravens, the new prequel novel by Andrzej Sapkowski. CD Projekt RED also confirmed that there will be no new updates at this year’s Game Awards as the team is focusing fully on steady development progress.
