Rainbow Six Siege X Adds Solid Snake as New Operator

Ubisoft has officially confirmed one of the most unexpected crossovers in tactical shooter history. Rainbow Six Siege X is welcoming Solid Snake as a brand-new playable operator, marking a legendary collaboration with Metal Gear Solid. The iconic stealth operative will arrive as part of Operation Silent Hunt, launching on March 3.

Designed specifically for Siege X, Solid Snake is not a simple cosmetic guest appearance. He is a fully playable attacker with his own loadout, abilities, and playstyle inspired directly by Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. According to official details, Snake is canonically connected to Sam Fisher, reinforcing Ubisoft’s stealth-focused DNA while paying homage to one of gaming’s most influential characters.

In combat, Solid Snake specializes in reconnaissance and surgical strikes. His primary weapons include the F2 and PMR90A2, while his secondary weapon is the suppressed TACIT .45 pistol, perfectly suited for silent takedowns. His unique operator ability allows him to mark nearby enemies with detection tools and, in a twist that feels very Metal Gear, retrieve gadgets from defeated enemy operators to repurpose them mid-match. This mechanic rewards smart positioning, patience, and adaptability rather than brute force.

Operation Silent Hunt also brings a wave of themed cosmetic content. Players can unlock Solid Snake immediately through the Battle Pass, alongside crossover items such as a Psycho Mantis-inspired outfit for Smoke. Ubisoft has clearly leaned into fan service while ensuring the additions remain balanced within Siege X’s competitive ecosystem.

Beyond the operator itself, Siege X is preparing a limited-time 4v4 event inspired by Metal Gear Solid. The mode will transform Nighthaven Labs into a stealth-driven battlefield, emphasizing infiltration and asymmetric objectives rather than traditional Siege firefights. Additional Metal Gear–themed skins for operators like Jackal and Ash are also planned, with more details expected closer to launch.

Rainbow Six Siege X is currently available as a free-to-play tactical FPS on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With its major visual overhaul, refined balance, and now one of gaming’s most legendary stealth icons joining the roster, Operation Silent Hunt signals a bold new chapter for the franchise.

For longtime Metal Gear fans and Siege veterans alike, this crossover feels less like a gimmick and more like a natural evolution. When Solid Snake enters the breach, silence is no longer optional.
