Destiny Child Is Back with a New Idle RPG Format for 2026

Destiny Child Returns With a New Idle RPG Direction
Destiny Child is officially making a comeback. After the original game shut down in 2023, the popular mobile IP now prepares for a full revival. This time, the series shifts into the Idle RPG genre.
Shift Up, the original creator, has licensed the IP to Com2uS. Development is currently handled by TikiTaka Studio, a team known for visually polished and accessible games. According to early reports, the project has already spent nearly two years in development.
A New Genre With Familiar Strengths
The biggest change comes from the gameplay direction. Instead of a collectible character card system, the new Destiny Child adopts an Idle RPG format. As a result, players can progress without constant screen time.
However, the core identity remains intact. The developers continue to emphasize high-quality character illustrations, expressive animations, and flashy effects. Moreover, the team confirmed that story depth remains a major focus, just like in the original release.
Storytelling Still Takes Center Stage
Destiny Child built its reputation on narrative-driven character design. Therefore, the new installment keeps that philosophy alive. Each character still plays a role in a larger emotional arc, rather than serving as simple combat units.
Because of this approach, longtime fans can expect familiar storytelling weight, even with simplified gameplay systems.
Global Launch Planned for 2026
Com2uS has confirmed plans for a worldwide mobile release in 2026. While the company has not shared exact platforms or beta schedules yet, the target remains global from day one.
Given the IP’s legacy and the long development cycle, expectations are understandably high.
About Destiny Child
Originally launched in 2016, Destiny Child became famous for its bold character designs and story-driven structure. Players followed the journey of a Demon King candidate alongside iconic support characters such as Mona, Lisa, and Davi.
The game reached top-grossing rankings on both major mobile stores within days of release. Because of that success, Destiny Child established itself as one of the most recognizable Korean mobile game IPs of its era.
With this upcoming Idle RPG reboot, the franchise now aims to reintroduce itself to a new generation of players while respecting what made it special.
