Virtua Fighter 4 Introduced AI System Over 20 Years Ago

Players Amazed! Virtua Fighter 4 Introduced AI System 20+ Years Ago
Even before the recent AI boom in gaming and media, Virtua Fighter 4 (released in 2002) already showcased an advanced AI system that could learn from the player. In the console version, the A.I. System menu allowed players to train the CPU by demonstrating moves, teaching behavior, or using replay clips. The AI would adapt, creating fighters with strategies similar to the player’s style.
Remarkably, this system worked offline, requiring no internet connection. The AI memorized actions and could respond intelligently, a concept later seen in Ghost Fighter modes in games like Tekken, where characters replicate player behavior for training purposes.
Virtua Fighter 4 debuted in 2001 (arcade) and released on consoles in 2002, later evolving into Evolution and Final Tuned editions. These iterations offered tournament simulations, character customization, and unique fighting styles for each fighter, emphasizing realistic and strategic combat.
