Director Confirms Final Fantasy VII Remake 3 ‘Core Game’ Nearly Complete

Although Square Enix has kept Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 under wraps for quite some time, the past year has gradually opened the door to more details. The team previously confirmed that this installment will include fewer minigames than Rebirth and will launch across multiple platforms. Now, director Naoki Hamaguchi has shared a major milestone: the core game is “almost fully complete,” and the project has entered its polishing and refinement phase ahead of a major reveal in the near future.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is in polishing phase as fans anticipate the official title announcement this year
During an interview with Guillaume Broche, director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, on the YouTube channel Julien Chièze, Hamaguchi stated that development of the core structure of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is nearly finished. The team is currently focused on “fine-tuning and quality improvements.” He added that he can “clearly see the final form of the game” and wants players to experience it as soon as possible, though he emphasized that every detail must meet their standards before being showcased to fans.
Hamaguchi confirmed that once these final refinements are completed, the team will share new information. He also asked fans to “wait just a little longer,” hinting that “soon” could mean The Game Awards on December 11 or within the next six months. Tetsuya Nomura, creative director, previously mentioned that the title reveal schedule has already been set and the team will adhere to that plan strictly.
Beyond development progress, Hamaguchi revealed that the team has narrowed down the official title to “two final choices,” with the decision expected within this year. Popular fan predictions such as “Reunion” align with the story themes but are unlikely due to its existing use in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Other predictions, including “Reboot” or “Reset,” are being speculated as potential reflections of the trilogy’s concluding arc.
Additionally, the word “Highwind” has been confirmed as an important keyword for Part 3. This aligns with the iconic airship from the original game, which is expected to serve as the main traversal system in the expansive world of the final installment. The Highwind has not yet appeared in the first two parts of the remake trilogy, making its role in Part 3 highly anticipated.
THIS IS OUR SAY
The confirmation that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is nearing full completion brings a surge of excitement to long-time fans. Hearing that Highwind will play a central role adds a nostalgic spark while hinting at major gameplay possibilities for the finale. The trilogy has carried enormous expectations, and this final chapter now feels closer than ever to stepping into the spotlight. With development entering its final stretch and a title reveal looming, the anticipation surrounding this legendary series is reaching a new peak.
