Resident Evil Requiem has officially launched across all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. A recent breakdown by Digital Foundry highlights how Switch 2 DLSS Resident Evil Requiem delivers surprisingly strong visual results.
According to the analysis, the key factor behind the impressive port is NVIDIA DLSS.
DLSS as the secret weapon
In docked mode, the game renders internally at 540p. However, DLSS upscales the image to a much cleaner output. Digital Foundry reports that the final image can appear sharper and more stable than the Xbox Series S version, which runs at a native 720p.
In handheld mode, the internal resolution drops to 360p. Even so, DLSS reconstruction maintains respectable clarity on the smaller screen. The result looks better than the raw resolution suggests.
Performance and trade offs
The game targets 60fps. In docked mode, frame rates fluctuate between 40 and 50fps, occasionally dipping near 30fps during heavy scenes. Handheld mode may see drops into the high 20s in demanding moments.
To achieve this performance, Capcom reduced certain visual elements. Model complexity is slightly lower. Texture quality is scaled down. Hair rendering shifts from strand based systems to card based textures, which are noticeable in close up cutscenes.
Despite these compromises, loading times remain fast. Save data and scene transitions occur quickly, which improves overall pacing.
