Final Fantasy VII Remake on Switch 2 Outperforms PS5 and Xbox in Unique Ways

Final Fantasy VII Remake continues to captivate fans years after its original PlayStation 4 release, and the upcoming Intergrade version is now coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026. Early demo access has allowed players to preview the game, sparking excitement and comparison across platforms.

Recent tests reveal that the Switch 2 version, based on the PS5 Intergrade edition, brings several notable enhancements. High-quality shadows, sharper textures, and detailed graphical effects surpass the PS4 version and even some PS5 elements. On the Switch 2, the game runs at 1080p before DLSS upscales it to 1440p on external displays, while the handheld mode renders at 720p and upscales to 1080p.

Interestingly, although Switch 2 operates at 30FPS in both handheld and docked modes, its frame rate stability is superior to PS5 when running in graphics-focused 30FPS mode. Meanwhile, Xbox Series S delivers less sharp textures, giving the Switch 2 an edge in visual clarity, though hair rendering remains less detailed compared to other platforms.
