Mega Man Dual Override Officially Revealed at The Game Awards 2025

During The Game Awards 2025, Capcom surprised fans by officially unveiling Mega Man Dual Override, a brand-new installment in the legendary action-platformer franchise. This isn’t a traditional numbered sequel it’s a fresh story set within the familiar Mega Man universe, signaling the hero’s biggest comeback in years. While full narrative details remain under wraps, Capcom released the first teaser images to showcase the game’s direction.
A 40th Anniversary Celebration
Although not branded as Mega Man 12 in name, the story timeline places this entry as the twelfth major chapter. Mega Man Dual Override serves as a key celebration of the franchise’s 40th anniversary, sending Mega Man back into battle against a new mechanical army led once again by Dr. Wily.
The game features a 3D world paired with 2D side-scrolling gameplay, enhanced by a vibrant cel-shaded art style that elevates the classic look while keeping the roots intact.



Fan-Favorite Boss Design Contest Returns
A major highlight is Capcom’s revival of the iconic Boss Design Contest, a tradition beloved by long-time fans. Players can submit their own boss concepts—appearance, theme, and attack patterns—and selected winners will see their creations brought to life as actual bosses in the final game.
Alongside the announcement, Capcom also confirmed an upcoming sale for Mega Man 11, giving new players a chance to revisit the previous installment.

Mega Man Dual Override is scheduled to launch in 2027 for:
