Hytale Returns from Riot Games with Early Access Launch

Fans of Hytale, the sandbox RPG that competes with Minecraft, can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After over a decade in development, the project faced a shocking halt earlier this year under Riot Games’ ownership, leaving players disappointed and anxious about its future. Today, Hypixel’s founder, Simon Collins-Laflame, announced on social media that the studio has successfully bought back Hytale from Riot Games, regaining full development rights and the ability to continue the project under its original name.
The announcement confirmed that the team is ready to resume development immediately, aiming to bring Early Access testing to players as soon as possible. Fans can also take comfort in knowing that the original core team behind the game will return to guide its next phase, ensuring continuity and quality for long-time supporters. Simon expressed gratitude to Riot Games for their cooperation during the buyback process, emphasizing that the transition was amicable and focused on delivering the game to its eager community.

Hytale is an action-adventure RPG with sandbox mechanics, allowing players to explore a blocky fantasy world full of knights, castles, and quests. Players can engage in story-driven survival modes or freely build and create in a sandbox environment. Community features, including minigames and user-created mods, further enhance the experience, encouraging creativity and collaboration.

The Early Access version will launch as a buy-to-start model, enabling players to support ongoing development while enjoying the game on Windows. macOS and Linux support may be considered later. Early Access will feature both Exploration and Creative modes, alongside private server support for multiplayer experiences. Fans can expect continuous updates for over a year, ensuring the world of Hytale grows richer with player participation.

This Is Our Say

With the original team back at the helm and Early Access around the corner, players finally have the chance to explore a game that promises both creativity and adventure without compromise.
