SOFTSTAR ENTERTAINMENT INC. has officially launched its latest first-person horror title, Junji Ito Maniac: An Infinite Gaol, on Steam worldwide today, November 11. Adapted from the Netflix anime Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, the game vividly captures the essence of Junji Ito’s nightmarish imagination, immersing players in a pure Junji Ito-style horror experience—where there is truly no escape. To celebrate the release, a 10% launch discount is available for a limited time.
To coincide with the launch, a brand-new trailer has been released, showcasing a foreboding Western-style mansion filled with dark, oppressive atmosphere and a maze-like room structure. Several iconic characters make appearances, accompanied by flickering lights, eerie flying head balloons in the sky, and long hair in the attic. The chilling sound design and lighting effects intensify the suspense, plunging players into a suffocatingly immersive horror setting.

In the game, players take on the role of Yota Takahashi, a university student who wakes up with no memory, inexplicably trapped in a strange Western-style mansion. With only a broken phone as his clue, players must explore their surroundings and slowly piece together the truth. The environment is fraught with danger, from deadly traps and bizarre sculptures to disturbing encounters with Junji Ito’s legendary characters such as the Headless Statue and Tomie. As the terror deepens and sanity slips away, players must ultimately confront an inescapable loop of horror.
The development team shared that the game features multiple branching routes and endings, giving players the freedom to choose their own path and uncover different possibilities within its unique brand of horror. During production, the team spent extensive time refining the visual details and the way each character is presented, making sure every scene captures the intended atmosphere with precision. Every eerie phenomenon in the game is crafted to evoke a deep sense of unease—something that feels both familiar and unsettling as players progress through the story.
